For anyone interested in starting either Kendo, Iaido or Naginata for the first time please see the information below regarding the next introductory courses for each of the respective arts. People are invited to visit the dojo during any of our normal training sessions (see the “Arts” page on this website for our training session times). All of the courses are designed for people who have had no experience in any of these arts….or any other martial art. So they are suited for absolute beginners and people who have had experience with other martial arts.
Kendo
Beginner Course Dates (2022)
Starts: Wednesday 23rd February 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Ends: Sunday 1st of May 5:00pm to 7:30pm
Details:
10 weeks due to Easter Break, last 2 Sundays are with the morning training.
Cost: $245 for adults, $170 for students, $135 for kids 17 years old and under
Duration: over 10 weeks
Course Days: Wednesdays 7:00pm to 9:30pm and Sundays 5:00pm to 7:30pm.

Further information
You will have to purchase a shinai (a bamboo sword) if you don’t already have one. They cost $55 for size 39 (usually for adult males) and $50 for size 38 and below (usually for adult females/teenagers/kids. A shinai can be purchased at the dojo.
Bring the filled in form with you on the first day of the course.
Iaido

Cost: $40
Duration: 4 weeks
Course Days: Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

You will be provided with a bokken (a wooden sword) to use.
Naginata
Course Start Dates (2022):
- Saturday 5 Feb – Saturday 5 March 2022
- Saturday 11 June – Saturday 9 July 2022
Details:
Cost: $60 for adults, $40 for students/kids
Duration: 5 weeks
Course Days: Saturdays 9:30am to 11:30pm.
First hour will be for the beginners group only, second hour will be integrated with regular members. 11.30-12.30 is reserved for members but beginners will be welcome to stay and quietly observe.
